Andersen Window Installation: The Stuart Owner’s Guide

We install Andersen windows in Stuart, FL, and we carry the replacement parts, balances, weatherstripping, and hardware for most Andersen lines made since the early 1990s. Most full-frame or insert Andersen installations here run $650 to $1,400 per opening depending on series, size, and whether the existing frame is sound. The usual way a homeowner finds us: a window that won’t stay up, a crank that spins without moving the sash, or a seal that’s fogged and won’t clear even in a dry Stuart winter.

Call (754) 324-4646

If you own an Andersen and the window’s failing, the fix is usually narrower than a full replacement. We match the part to the exact series and size rather than retrofitting something that almost fits. That’s the difference between a window that operates like new and one that fights you every time you open it.

Which Andersen Models This Applies To

Andersen builds several distinct lines, and the parts rarely interchange between them. The 400 Series (wood core, vinyl clad), 200 Series (wood core, vinyl clad, narrower profile), A-Series (architectural wood), E-Series (custom aluminum-clad), and the newer 100 Series (Fibrex composite) each use different balance systems, sash guides, and hardware sets. The Narroline double-hungs from decades past use a completely different jamb liner and balance than the current 400 Series tilt-wash models. If you bring us a window without a label, we identify it by the glass etch, the jamb profile, and the balance shoe rather than guessing.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision: for Andersen specifically, we prefer genuine Andersen parts on most moving components. Balances, tilt latches, and casement operators from Andersen are built to the exact spring tension and travel for that sash weight. Quality aftermarket weatherstripping and glazing gaskets exist and work well, but a generic balance that’s off by a pound or two either slams the sash down or won’t hold it up. We’ll quote you both where it makes sense, and we’ll tell you when the aftermarket option is a mistake.

One compatibility gotcha we see often in Stuart: Andersen impact-rated sashes use thicker laminated glass, which adds weight. A standard 400 Series balance will not hold an impact sash. If your Andersen was upgraded for hurricane code, we need the impact sash’s exact glass package to spec the right balance. We ask before we quote because guessing here means a call-back.

Signs Your Andersen Window Installation Is Failing

  • The sash drops hard when released, or won’t stay up. The balance springs or balance shoe inside the jamb have lost tension or broken. In Stuart’s humidity, the spring steel inside a balance can corrode faster than it would up north, especially on east-facing walls that catch salt air.
  • The window tilts out on one side but not the other. The tilt latch or pivot pin on one side has failed. Andersen tilt latches are plastic and take the brunt of every cleaning cycle. They crack, and then the sash seats crooked.
  • You can see fog or condensation between the two panes. The insulating glass seal has failed. Once the seal goes, the argon leaks out and Florida humidity gets pulled in. No cleaning fixes it; the sash needs reglazing or replacing.
  • A casement or awning crank turns but the sash barely moves. The operator gear or the hinge track has worn or stripped. Andersen operators are replaceable, but if the hinge has seized, the sash has to come out to do it right.
  • Drafts or water stains around the frame even when the sash is closed. The weatherstripping has compressed or the frame has shifted out of square. In older Stuart homes with wood framing, we see this after decades of seasonal humidity swings. Sometimes it’s a weatherstrip; sometimes the rough opening needs attention.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Andersen window installation in Stuart, you’re looking at these ranges on most residential work:

  • Balance replacement (double-hung, per window): $180 to $340 installed
  • Tilt latch or pivot shoe replacement: $120 to $220 per window
  • Casement operator replacement: $190 to $360 per operator
  • Weatherstripping replacement (full perimeter): $140 to $260 per window
  • Insulated glass replacement (sash reglaze): $280 to $650 depending on glass package and low-E coating
  • Full window replacement (insert, vinyl or Fibrex): $650 to $1,400 per opening installed

The spread comes down to series, sash size, glass type, and whether the existing frame is square enough to take a new insert without additional carpentry. We price the part and the labor as separate line items on paper, so you see exactly what you’re paying for. No change orders unless we open the wall and find something we couldn’t see during the measure. Both warranty layers get registered in writing before our truck leaves your driveway, and the work carries our Done Right Promise. If it isn’t done right, we make it right without paperwork or argument.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely identify a lot of the problem yourself. Note the series (the label is usually on the top edge of the lower sash or the side jamb), measure the visible glass width and height, and note whether it’s a single-hung, double-hung, casement, or awning. That information gets our parts person most of the way to the right fix on the first call.

We don’t recommend replacing Andersen balances yourself. A balance is spring-loaded, and a mis-seated pivot shoe can turn a simple job into a broken jamb and a sash that won’t reattach. The same goes for removing an insulated glass unit; the sash must be unglazed carefully or the frame corners can crack. If you’re unsure, call (754) 324-4646 and describe what the window’s doing. We’ll tell you honestly if it’s worth a service call or if it’s something you can knock out with a screwdriver. Most Andersen part swaps for Stuart homeowners take one visit, and we keep the common 400 Series and 200 Series balances, latches, and weatherstripping on the truck.

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
