CGI Impact Garage Doors: The Stuart Owner’s Guide

CGI impact garage door parts in Stuart typically run $425 to $2,800 installed depending on whether you need a roller assembly, hinge set, bottom seal, or a full panel replacement. We stock common CGI hardware on our trucks and can source panel-specific components from CGI’s Florida distribution network, usually within three to five business days. Most Stuart homeowners discover the problem the hard way: a door that starts binding on one side in July, a bottom seal that’s turned brittle from salt air, or a post-storm inspection that shows a stress crack spreading from a hinge point.

We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with CGI. But we’ve worked on their doors long enough to know exactly what fails first in this climate, and what’s worth fixing versus replacing. Dale Kessler has been reading openings and setting doors on the Treasure Coast long enough to tell you the difference between a part that’s tired and a part that’s done.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI manufactures several impact-rated garage door lines, and the parts are not cross-compatible across all of them. The main lines we service in Stuart are the Estate Collection (full-view aluminum with inset glass), the Classic Collection (flush and raised panel designs), and the Sentry line (value-focused impact doors used in a lot of newer Rio and Rocky Point construction). Each line uses different hinge geometry, track profiles, and seal channels.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches people: a hinge from a Classic Collection door will not fit an Estate door, even if they’re both labeled “CGI heavy-duty end hinge.” The mounting face width differs by nearly half an inch. Before you order anything, look at the sticker on the inside of the bottom section. It should list the series name, the door height, and the P.O. number. That P.O. number is the fastest way to match a replacement part without guesswork.

For OEM versus aftermarket: we recommend OEM for structural parts like hinges, struts, and bottom brackets. The aluminum alloys CGI specs are thicker than what most aftermarket suppliers offer. For consumables like bottom rubber seals and nylon rollers, quality aftermarket equivalents hold up just fine and often cost 20 to 30 percent less. We quote both options side by side on paper so you see exactly what you’re paying for.

Signs Your CGI Impact Garage Door Is Failing

  • Loud grinding or popping during operation. This usually points to worn nylon rollers running on the metal bearing. Once the nylon wears through, the steel wheel eats the track and repair costs climb fast.
  • Door jerks or hangs mid-travel. Almost always a hinge problem. Hinges on one side stretch from years of correcting the door’s balance, and the door starts to fight itself.
  • Visible rust bleeding from hinge pins or track bolts. Florida humidity does this. Rusted hardware seizes, then the door torques the panel at the mounting point. We see this most often on doors facing the St. Lucie River or within a mile of the ocean.
  • Bottom seal is cracked, curling, or leaving daylight. Salt air and UV break the rubber down in about four to five years. A gone seal lets debris, pests, and water into the garage and kills whatever you store on the floor.
  • A panel shows a stress crack radiating from a corner hinge. This is the one to take seriously. Impact doors are engineered as a system. A cracked panel means the door no longer carries wind load as designed, and that’s a structural issue, not a cosmetic one.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Stuart, common CGI repairs land in these ranges:

  • Roller replacement (full set): $180-$320
  • Hinge replacement (one to four hinges): $150-$450
  • Bottom seal and retainer replacement: $140-$260
  • Track realignment and hardware refresh: $300-$650
  • Single panel replacement: $900-$2,800 depending on width, glass, and series

The bigger number is panel work. CGI sections are impact-rated, which means laminated glass inserts, heavier stiles, and thicker aluminum frames. You’re paying for the rating, not just the material. Every quote we give is line-item: parts, labor, disposal, and tax listed separately. No surprises on the back end. And if we install it, the work is covered by our Done Right Promise, both manufacturer warranty layers registered in writing before the truck leaves your driveway.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can safely replace a bottom seal on a CGI door if you’re comfortable with a pry bar and a pair of tin snips. That’s about it. Rollers and hinges on impact doors are under tension, and the bottom fixtures on a torsion spring door can take off a finger if the spring lets go. We don’t tell people that to scare them. We tell them because we’ve seen the result of a homeowner who watched a YouTube video and tried it with a pair of vice grips.

Also, if you do the work yourself and the door goes out of square, you void the wind-load rating of the door. Your impact door becomes a very expensive non-impact door. For anything touching rollers, hinges, cables, or panels, call a glazier who’s done this before. Call (754) 324-4646 and we’ll send someone who measures twice.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."
